International Dance Festival on a Urban Scene – Old Havana – Ciudad en Movimiento

From the most austere of the Mudejar until a very particular baroque . Old Havana opens its streets, houses, squares, courtyards, and their most unknown places to a single purpose: to promote the dance. Old Havana: City in Motion (Ciudad en Movimiento) is a different and unusual event that aims to bring the viewer to a combination of artistic manifestations inspired by the history, the architecture and the design of one of the most beautiful colonial towns in the world.
Held annually in the Historical Center of Havana since 1996, the event is organized by the Dance company Danza Teatro Retazos, the Office of the Historian of the City and supported by the Center Theater of Havana. The appointment contributes to the development of the cultural heritage of the city.
Old Havana: City in Motion allows you to cover a wide spectrum of tendencies and artistic events, exhibitions, concerts, presentations of artistic video, performance, etc, which favour the incorporation of new talents. In addition, it encourages and proposes the professional development through courses, workshops, conferences, and samples of videos that the Festival offers activities as collateral that promotes the Office of the Historian.
Old Havana: City in Motion is included since 1999 in the International Circuit Cities that Dance, the network formed by cities in Europe and America, was created in Barcelona in 1992.
The Festival is an event that allows you to encourage the exchange of ideas and artistic experiences between the peoples, and to create a common commitment to disseminate and preserve different languages and cultures.

GENERAL GOALS:
• to Promote and encourage artistic creation and specifically the development of creators and dance performers.
• Provide easy access to the art of dance to the general public and vice versa.
• Make this proposal a space in which the artistic experience is affordable, educational and stimulating for the daily life of the community.
• Establish a solid platform of exchange between creators of festivals in the various cities of the world.
• the Revalorization and awareness of the architectural heritage of the cities, as well as of their historical memory and cultural.

GOALS:
• Put in value the cultural and artistic heritage own of the Historical Centre of Havana and of the Cuban identity, both comprehensive and universal.
• Motivate companies to the choreographic creation inspired by architectural spaces where the event takes place.
• to Promote, the artistic event addressed to the passer-by as co-star and creator of the show proposed.
• Establish the presence of new spaces that encourage and promote the performing choreography as a universal language.
